Broadcast Services

Broadcast-minded live contribution for DTL, newsgathering and programme inserts

Bright Spark Studios provides field contribution crews and transmission for broadcasters and production teams - from breaking news to scheduled programme contribution, two-ways, and pre-recorded inserts.

We operate both the LiveU (LU300) and Haivision (AIR220) ecosystems, so we can match your existing receive path (LiveU server workflows, Haivision StreamHub/Cloud StreamHub workflows, Hub 360, or SRT contribution where required). We’re vendor agnostic - our job is to get you a clean, stable, on-time feed.

What we provide

Live hits and two-ways

  • Rapid deployment for live news and time-critical events
  • Managed line-up and handover to studio/MCR/production gallery
  • Low-latency contribution suitable for live interaction (network dependent)
  • Practical “broadcast first” operation: framing, audio intelligibility, tidy comms

DTL (Down the Line) with IFB

We can deliver a broadcast-ready DTL position including:

  • Camera, lighting (where needed) and professional audio
  • Pre-live checks and punctual line-up
  • Wireless IFB supplied for LiveU workflows, including a wireless belt-packs for reporter/talent so they receive gallery audio/cues cleanly while on camera
  • Talkback/return audio coordination as required (subject to your comms arrangement)

Camera options

We can supply either:

  • ENG cameras - Sony PMW range (news-style acquisition and fast operation)
  • Sony FX series cameras (FX6 or FX9) (useful for factual/programme inserts where a more cinematic look is desired)

We’ll match the camera choice to the brief and the editorial expectation - fast, clean and consistent.

Transmission options

LiveU contribution (with playout server integration)

  • LiveU field encoding for fast, resilient uplink
  • Integration with LiveU playout server workflows (e.g. LU2000 / LU4000) where used by the receiving broadcaster or production facility
  • Useful when you want LiveU sources available as part of a wider production chain for switching, recording, and onward distribution

Haivision contribution (Air220 / StreamHub workflows)

  • Haivision AIR220 for low-latency IP contribution
  • Compatible with Haivision receive paths including StreamHub / Cloud StreamHub / Hub 360 workflows (depending on broadcaster setup)
  • SRT contribution supported where required by the receiving infrastructure

REMI / multi-point contribution

For remote production or multi-location workflows, multiple contribution points can be run in parallel (using LiveU and/or Haivision encoders as appropriate), feeding a central production for switching, graphics and onward distribution.

Connectivity and resilience

Primary: bonded multi-network 4G/5G

Our default approach is bonded cellular using multi-network 4G/5G SIMs, so we’re not reliant on a single carrier. This helps maintain stability as local conditions change (congestion, coverage variability, moving locations).

Additional connectivity options (as required)

Where cellular isn’t sufficient for the risk profile, we can add alternative IP paths:

  • Starlink (additional cost)
  • KA-SAT (additional cost)

These can be used as a primary route where appropriate, or as part of a redundant/hybrid setup alongside bonded cellular.

Data charges

Cellular data can be:

  • Included as part of the package, or
  • Charged competitively based on actual usage (per GB)

We’ll agree the approach at booking so there are no surprises.

International Services

International broadcasters and news bureaus can also be supported when a UK-based crew is required for location coverage - whether that’s a planned segment, a short-notice live hit, or fast-moving breaking news. For overseas desks and crews, the key benefit is simple: a broadcast-minded team on the ground, able to deliver a clean feed quickly and reliably, without you having to fly in crew or kit.

Booking info (what we’ll ask for)

To move quickly, it helps to confirm:

  • Location, access times, parking/loading notes
  • Live window and preferred line-up time
  • Receive path (LiveU / Haivision / SRT) and any format expectations
  • Whether IFB/talkback is required and how you want to handle comms
  • Any site restrictions (security, RF, cable runs, public access)

Talk to us
