Connectivity for remote live stream event / JBE Events

The Brief

JBE Events engaged Bright Spark Studios to deliver a professional livestream from a remote location with no on-site internet infrastructure. The event was to be streamed live to an embedded player within the client's online platform, with a requirement for high reliability, full production graphics, and seamless programme delivery – regardless of venue limitations.

The brief was clear: deliver a resilient, high-quality livestream, even in an environment with no guaranteed connectivity.

Our Approach

We designed a dual-site workflow built around bonded connectivity and failover planning. Our setup ensured not only a stable live broadcast from the field, but also a fully capable backup control room should the remote link drop out.

Key elements included:

  • Connectivity Resilience
  • Three Starlink satellite terminals provided the primary connection.
  • Two high-gain 4G modems with multi-SIM bonding delivered additional bandwidth.
  • 2 bonded encoders – one Haivision and one LiveU – to create a robust, redundant streaming pipeline.

Remote-to-PCR Redundancy

  • Video, graphics, and audio were streamed in real time to our Production Control Room (PCR).
  • In the event of link loss, the PCR could immediately take over broadcast, playing graphics and pre-recorded VTs without viewer disruption.

Production Workflow

  • Multi-camera setup using Canon CR-N500 PTZ cameras for discreet, high-quality coverage.
  • Local switching and vision mixing using our vMix production system.
  • Graphics overlays, VT playout, and stream encoding handled both on-site and mirrored in the PCR.

Delivery

  • Final programme was streamed to our secure CDN.
  • Embedded directly into the client’s own event platform for seamless audience access.

The Outcome

Despite the lack of venue infrastructure, the event was delivered live and uninterrupted to an online audience. The combination of bonded Starlink and cellular connections provided the throughput needed for a stable HD stream, and the mirrored control room offered a second layer of confidence.

What worked well:

  • Zero stream downtime, thanks to our resilient network design.
  • High production value with smooth camera switching, branded graphics, and VT integration.
  • Positive feedback from the event management team on the clarity, calmness, and technical foresight of our crew.

This project demonstrates our ability to deliver broadcast-quality streaming from virtually any location – with the right planning, tools, and team in place.
